Occupational Therapy

Therapeeps provides occupational therapy from a holistic perspective, taking into account both the child’s needs and the families expressed concerns. Areas of service may include movement and coordination, sensory processing, self-regulation, visual motor and perceptual skills, and more. Our team will work alongside each family and child to develop an individualized therapy plan to optimize growth.

Why does this benefit my child?

Occupational therapy can help provide stability in the home and school settings. Early intervention can help your child meet developmental milestones, overcome sensory challenges, and improve self-care, play and self-regulation skills. These skills, when fostered, can have tremendous carry over into your child’s day-to-day development. Therapy and appropriate strategies implemented in our sessions can increase your child’s ability to confidently approach new tasks and manage distractions.

What are the issues that need correcting?

Our therapy sessions focus on concerns such as:

·       Difficulty staying on task/coping with distractions

·       Difficulty coordinating fine and course movements

·       Difficulty dressing and/or undressing (buttons, zipper, shoes)

·       Difficulty walking up/down stairs

·       Delayed drawing, coloring, writing, stacking blocks

·      Poor/weak mastication, causing choking or gagging on food

What does this look like?

Therapeeps will begin by having the parent fill out an intake form and then will move on to scheduling your child for an initial evaluation. During the one hour evaluation, our therapist will complete the appropriate standardized assessment in order to decide the best course of treatment. Once it is determined if the child qualifies for therapy or not, we will provide our recommendations for scheduling services.
